Sheriff honors deputies who rescued inmates during fire

The Nodaway County Sheriff's Department is honoring the officers who stopped a fire at the county jail last month. It started after 29-year old inmate Ethan Mark Bently of Rulo, Nebraska ignitied a fire inside the jail.

Sheriff Randy Strong says he wanted to honor his crew for taking quick action to put out the fire saving several inmates housed inside the jail.

The officers will receive a letter of commendation for saving lives. In addition to the arson charge, Bently faces two counts of first-degree assault, one count of domestic assault, one count of first degree property damage, and resisting a lawful stop.
